Be Proactive in Your Dentures Care & Oral Health

Your dentures play a crucial role in your everyday life and need to be reliable each and every time that you eat, drink, speak, and smile. Daily and annual maintenance will help ensure the security and confidence that you need and expect from your dentures.

Although dentures will not last forever, regular maintenance will help extend their life cycle and prevent unwanted and/or painful effects such as:

  • Improper fit
  • Tissue or gum irritation
  • Chewing problems
  • Mouth sores
  • Excessive wear
  • Joint pain and headaches

Caring for Your Dentures

As with natural teeth, tartar and stains can build up on your dentures' surface. You should brush your new teeth as you would your original ones, but with and low-abrasion toothpaste such as Oxyfresh™ and using a denture-specific toothbrush. We also suggest that you soak your removable dentures every night and soak them overnight in special denture cleaner such as Renew™ to keep them clean and odour-free. Be sure to rinse them thoroughly with water before reinserting them.

Once you have your dentures, make sure to follow these basic guidelines:

  • Replace your dentures every 5 to 7 years
  • Reline your dentures every 2 to 3 years
  • Visit your denturist annually
